Esta ilustre familia tomó su nombre de una Strozza, que vivió en 1260 e hijo de un Ubertino, de origen popular, que tuvo tanta y tan gloriosa parte en la historia política, literaria y artística de Florencia, a quien le dio 94 sacerdotes de libertad y 16 gonfalonieri de la justicia.
