Presero il nome in Arezzo cominciandovi a grandeggiare sin dal secolo XVI con un Guido, di Angelo, da Subbiano che fu dei priori nel 1387 e nel 1389 capitano di parte guelfa, Pur dei priori fu nel 1414 Domenico, di Nicolò. Nel 1551 la famiglia fu ammessa al supremo onore del Gonfalonierato, e nel 1555 al godimento della cittadinanza fiorentina per concessione di Cosimo I alle più distinte prosapie aretine. Antonio, di Pigli, di Bartolo, fu celeberrimo giureconsulto. Col fratello di lui, Bartolo, di Pigli, si divisero in due rami. Quello di Pigli, di Bartolo, padre di Antonio, dal quale nacque Ciro, il cui figlio Giovanni Battista ebbe da Caterina Tortelli il cav. Pirro, coniugato con Orsola Puccinelli, e padre di Gio. Battista, del cav. Ciro e di Caterina (nei De Giudici, e poi in Alberoni), che, insieme al padre e a Pirro, Pierfrancesco, Celso, Antonio, Ferdinando e Orsola, figli
