Antica famiglia del Treviso, che sembra abbia tratto il nome dalla Valle Sugana, donde la tradizione la vuole originaria. Franceschino da Caldinazzo per cause di guerra in favore dei Carraresi contro Vicenza, signoreggiata dagli Scaligeri, dovette abbandonare la su patria e sotto l'egida dei Carraresi, signori allora di Treviso, verso il 1380 si stabilì in quest'ultima città. Accresciute le ricchezze famigliari per causa di commercio, la famiglia conquistò in Treviso cospicua posizione e contrasse nobili parente. Cristoforo, nipote del precedente, nel 1406 ebbe la cittadinanza padovana. Fu ascritta sin dal 1582 al Consiglio nobile di Treviso e nel 1775 ottenne dal Senato Veneto il titolo di conte per la infestazione fatta da alcuni beni di Villorba e Spresiano, eretti in contea. Fu confermato nella sua avita comitale con S.R. 5 ag. 1819 e nel titolo comitale con S.R. 13 aprile 1829. il Ministro dell'Interno d'Italia, con Decreto 1875, dichiarò competere
