Questa famiglia è un ramo di quella dei Baldelli, ed assunse questo cognome per discendere da un Bartolino, che ne è il capostipite. L'origine prima della famiglia è Gubbio, ma poi, avendo acquistato per matrimonio il castello di Pecciano, questo fu per lungo tempo la dimora della famiglia. Nel 1211 Rinieri ed Orlando di Suppolo vendettero il castello al Comune di Cortona e nel 1265 Astuldo e Venuto di Zuffredo nunziarono anche ai pedaggi, che erano stati riservati nella detta vendita. Bartolommeo di Pietro di Pace nel 1407 fece parte del Consiglio di Cortona, e nel 1411 fu uno dei riformatori dello Statuto di questo Comune. Niccolò di Giovanni di Bartolommeo partì da Cortona nel 1442, venendo ad abitare in Arezzo e poi a Perugia, e finalmente nel castello di Montelungo, nel piviere di Gropina, dove la famiglia visse privatamente, contraendo parentadi con illustri famiglie, e facendosi descrivere a gravezza
