The Suzzari family (or from Suzara) is among the oldest in the Reggiano area. He can be considered as the progenitor of this family Guido da Suzara, a famous jurisconsult and law reader at the University of Padua. He moved to Reggio in 1270 from the island of Suzara in the Po, of which he apparently was also lord and feudal lord.
