Famiglia delle più antiche di Lodi Vecchio. Erimberto Vescovo di Lodi; Lotario console, fu uno dei tre che ricevettero da Federico I* l'investitura e lo stendardo della nuova città. Questa famiglia fu di parte guelfa (Guelfi e ghibellini, fazioni politiche medievali, nate in Germania nel XII sec. e poi diffuse in Italia nei due secoli successivi. I nomi derivano da quello della casa tedesca dei Welfen (Guelfi), che sosteneva la casa di Baviera e di Sassonia nella lotta al trono imperiale contro i duchi di Svevia, ai quali apparteneva il castello di Weiblingen (italianizzato in Guaibelinga, da cui Ghibellini). I termini si diffusero in Italia al tempo di Federico II di Svevia, dopo anni di lotte tra le due casate, e vennero inizialmente a designare le due fazioni politiche dei sostenitori del papato (guelfi) e dell'imperatore (ghibellini), distinzione molto spesso fittizia, a copertura di più ristretti interessi politici di singole
