Antica famiglia tolentinate, ma originaria da Belforte sul Chienti. Riconosce come capostipite un Bernabeo, di Giovanni Angelo, il quale si trasferì a Tolentino in occasione del suo matrimonio con la nobile Caterina Porcelli di detta città. Questo Bernabeo si addottorò in legge nel collegio della Sapienza in Roma il 16 maggio 1637, a 20 anni, e dopo aver disimpegnato onorevoli uffici, fu annoverato nel 1658 all'Ordine Senatorio, conseguendo diploma di cittadinanza e patriziato romano, titolo trasmissibile a tutti i discendenti in linea retta. Bernabeo ebbe due figli: Giuseppe, secondogenito, che aggiunse il cognome materno Porcelli e fu capo di ramo ora estinto; e Catervo, il quale generò Pacifico, da cui Giuseppe, che il 16 aprile 1676, con tutti i suoi discendenti, fu aggregato alla nobiltà di primo grado della città di Tolentino.
