Antica ed illustre famiglia, originaria di Piacenza, detta Taini o Taina, la qual, in ogni tempo, si distinse per gli illustri personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, ricordiamo: un Orazio, podestà di Zibello nel 1676; un dott. Cesare, medico distinto (n. 22 marzo 1677, deced. il I° febbraio 1765), protomedico in patria e per probità, scienza e censo gli venne conferita la nobiltà per se e i per suoi discendenti d'ambo i sessi, con diploma di Francesco Farnese del 20 giugno 1719. Egli sposò Giulia Volpi, figlia dell'esimio medico Nicolò, pure piacentino, dalla quale nacque, il 17 maggio 1726 Francesco, morto il 18 maggio 1726. Suo figlio Giuseppe ebbe Giulio Cesare, che sposò la contessa Dorotea Scotti; morì nel 1865.
