Antica ed illustre famiglia, con residenza a Reggio. Bernardino Talea, vivente nel 1273, fu insigne giureconsulto di Reggio. Lesse il diritto nell'Accademia reggiana con grande successo e concorso di forestieri. Lasciò una raccolta delle glosse sui Decretali, che fu molto conosciuta e diffusa. Non è però accertato che egli appartenga a questa famiglia. Vi appartenne invece l'abate Carlo Talea, oriundo da Brescello, che fu studioso erudito, cultore di cose storiche e scrittore. Dimorò in gioventù a Modena, poi a Bologna, e nel 1717 si stabilì in Reggio, dove scrisse nel 1722 un Compendio Storico di Brescello, di cui conservasi parecchie copie manoscritte. E' molto ricco di notizie, tratte anche da documenti e monumenti. Morì in Reggio nel 1739 e fu sepolto nella chiesa di S. Giacomo e Filippo. Ebbe grande amicizia con Lodovico Antonio Muratori, e si conservano lettere fra loro scambiate. Nel 1755 viveva l'avv. Carlo Ippolito, di Ferdinando,
