Famiglia valtellinese, che si stabilì prima in San Salvatore, nell'alta valle del Libri, proveniente dal Bergamasco. Nel secolo XIII si insediò nel castello di Albosaggia, ancor oggi di proprietà della famiglia, ed entrò a far parte della nobiltà valtellinese. Nel secolo XVI un Gian Giacomo, dopo aver contribuito alla cacciata dei Grigioni dalla Valtellina, fu incaricato dai valtellinesi di ambascerie alla Dieta di Baden, al pontefice e al re di Spagna. Il 21 giugno 1581 l'imperatore Rodolfo II, con suo diploma datato da Vienna, lo insignì con tutti i discendenti maschi e femmine del titolo di nobile del S. R. Impero e gli concesse l'arma sopra descritta, riconosciuta dalla Consulta Araldica del regno. Un Cesare, ufficiale nell'esercito del re di Napoli, per le sue aspirazioni liberali, nel 1793 fu imprigionato e nel 1799, liberato dal carcere, fece parte del Governo della Repubblica Partenopea e incaricato di particolari missini in
