Hebbe origine questa famiglia in Spagna, e nella Città di Tarragona un tempo sotto la Romana Republica fù capo della Provincia Tarragonese d'un chiaro Capitano chiamato Guerao Blandinde T. sotto il Re Don Giayme il Conquistadore Re d'Aragona, il quale con Galinda de Spucches sua moglie nobilissima Dama acquistò Guglielmo, Beltrand, Bermudo, e Scimen de T., che vissero col mestier dell'armi sempre con supremi carichi militari servendo il loro Regi Aragonesi in molte guerre contro Mori. Gio. Peres de T. fù Castellano di Perpignano sotto il Re Alfonzo il quarto Piero Antonio de T. passò in Sicilia col Re Martino primo, e Regina Maria, e mercè il suo valore hebbe da quel Rè il carico di Melazzo nel 1398. e quindi fondò la sua famiglia di T, nobilmente. Da costui ne nacquero Guglielmo, e Bernardo T. che servirono il Rè Alfonzo V. nell'acquisto del Regno di Napoli, perloche Guglielmo
