Ancient family of Montepulciano, where Jacopo and Giovanni, of Francesco, of Toro, enjoyed the position of gonfalonier respectively in the years 1377 and 1392. From Bernardino, di Luca di Bartolomeo, ambassador for his municipality to the Sienese in 1506, Giulio and Tarugio were born . He had Francesco Maria, archbishop of Avignon from 1593 to 1597, cardinal from 1596, archbishop of Siena from 1597 to the year of his death in 1608; and Bernardino, captain of Pietrasanta in 1579. Bernardo's sons were Giuseppe, knight of Malta in 1593, vicar of Anghiari in 1599, captain of the Pistoia mountains in 1605. The descendants of Bernardino, among whom we remember Accursio, by Giovan Battista, gentleman of Cardinal Francesco Maria dei Medici, in 1692 ambassador to Cosimo III to support the privileges and jurisdictional rights of his homeland, they were accrued to the nobility of Siena by decree 12 July 1756 and to that of Montepulciano by decree 18 January 1762, in the person of Cosimo , Francesco Maria, Bartolomeo, brothers and children of the aforementioned Accursio.
