Molto antica in Cannobio. Enrico prelato del convento degli Umiliati in patria nel 1304, Zambello fu anch'egli prelato nel 1347; Giacomo prevosto di S. Vittore nel 1374; Pietro notaro e causidico collegiato nel 1456; ed altro Pietro dottore in chirurgia nel 1522. Tra questa famiglia la sua origine in Lombardia, non possonno le lingue dolose criticare contro l'antichissima origine, e progressi di questa chiarissima famiglia. Di origine longobarda, le prime sue memorie in Milano rimontano al tempo di Federico II, conforme riferisce il Morgia Paolo nella "Nobiltà di Milano divisa in sei libri" stampato in Milano nel 1595. Lo stesso autore riferisce essere questa una delle più nobili ed antiche famiglie di Milano.
