Família originária da aldeia de Tassinara na Romagna Toscana, indicada como uma das mais antigas daquela terra pelos estatutos do Pórtico de 1384. Dele, dividido em vários ramos, são lembrados os seguintes: Lanfranco, di Stagio, cap. do povo do duque de Milão em 1436; Stagio, de Antonio, presente na entrega solene do Pórtico à República Florentina em 1440; Bernardo, íntimo da família Médici, nomeado castelão da fortaleza de Dovadola em 1532, cargo que passou de pai para filho nos seus discípulos; Prior, di Stagio, coronel da guerra de Siena no lugar de seu pai, que ali morreu lutando bravamente. Em 1802 o cavaleiro. Gaetano, di Giovanni, di Cosimo, obteve pela graça ser inscrito na nobreza de Florença, por ter fundado uma comenda na Ordem de Santo Estêvão e ter usado uniforme de cavaleiro; mas seus sobrinhos, ex-frade, Dr. Cosimo e Anton Francesco, de Girolamo, tendo conseguido demonstrar a descendência direta

Note: lo stemma appartiene al ramo originario di Rocca San Casciano e ascritto alla nobiltà di Modigliana nel 1840. L'interpretazione dell'animale presente in entrambi gli stemmi non è sempre agevole, anche se doveva trattarsi di un tasso.
