Originaria del Biellese, dove ricorre nominata fino dal secolo XIII. Giulio è console di Biella nel 1450; un Guglielmo è inviato dal comune al re di Francia, Enrico II, nel 1556, per il giuramento di fedeltà ed ottiene concessione o conferma dello stemma il 20 aprile 1581; un Filiberto ricorre spesso nominato nei provvedimenti biellesi del 1590 contro la peste. In Biella erano tre rami qualificiati nobili: un ramo fioriva inTorino con Gaspare Bernardino, morto di 80 anni a Torino il 27 dic. 1706 e sepolto alla Consolata; procuratore collegiato presso ilSenato, consigliere e procuratore patrimoniale (10 dic. 1678). Era stato a Parigi come segretario dell'ambasciatore Carroccio ed, in sua assenza, aveva preso il carattere di agente ducale. Consegnò l'arma il 19 gennaio 1688. Altri rami firorivano a Strambino ed Ivrea, oggi estinti. Sopravvive il ramo di Candelo, la cui gnealogia sicura si inizia con Girolamo,
