Suas primeiras lembranças remontam ao século 11, e em 1184 foi listada entre as principais que compareceram à cúria. Três dos Tencarari lutaram pela conquista da Terra Santa. Bartolomeo pertencia aos templários na época da perseguição sofrida por Filipe, o belo rei da França. Zenone Tencarari foi bispo de Avignon e legado apostólico e, como tal, presidiu o Conselho Geral de Alby, em 1254, reunido para condenar os hereges albigenses; Nicolò, juiz, foi um dos eleitos em 1272 para declarar questionada uma forma do estatuto bolonhesa. Os Tencarari de 1258 a 1369 faziam parte dos idosos e tinham missões e atribuições muito importantes. O último membro desta família era um padre que viveu em 1500. O brasão da família Tencarari é: Vermelho, com duas tiras de prata (peixe), colocadas no mastro, acompanhadas na ponta por uma estrela azul, com a cabeça de Anjou.
