Es catalán y tuvo su casa solariega en la ciudad de Barcelona, de la que fue descendiente en fines del siglo XVI. José Terrer, marido de doña María Magdalena, padres de otro José Terrer, que casó condoña Ana de Peguera y procrearon a José Manuel Terrer y Peguera, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Catalina de Tamarit y de Vilanova, naciendo de esta unión Josefa Terrer de Tamarit, bautizada en la iglesia del Pino, de Barcelona, el 5 de mayo de 1698. Vistió el hábito de la Orden de San Juan de Jerusalén, en el Gran Priorato de Cataluña, en 1704. En Mallorca radicó una rama apellidada Terrers. Era ya conocida en Benisalem y Alaró en mediados del siglo XIV. Pero algunos de los autores que de ella hablan nos dejan en la duda de si su apellido Terrers es una modalidad del linaje de Terés y no del de Terrer. Y esa duda obedece a que el blasón que a dicha familia asignan no es el que corresponde a Terrer y a sus variantes de Tarré y T.
