Originaria del Bergamasco e propriamente di Albino, questa famiglia si portò in Lecce, in Alessano ed in Nardò, per ragioni di commercio, circa il 1550. Ascritta al primo ordine civico di tali città, possedette feudali possedimenti e fu ricevuta, per giustizia, nel S.M.O. di Malta dal 1728 in persona del cavaliere Giambattista. Si trova ascritta all'Elenco del priorato di Barletta ed al Registro delle famiglie feudatarie da oltre duecento anni in persona di Michele Personè. Nel 1844 fu ammessa nelle RR. Guardie del Corpo. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobile Italiano col titolo di nobile (maschi e femmine) in persona di Clementina, di Michele, di Diego, vedova Tafuri. Sorelle: Raffaella vedova Bozzi Colonna ed Elena in Personè. Maria Teresa, di Luca Antonio, di Giacomo Maria.
