Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Julien, seigneur du Bois-Orcant, de la garde de Rennes en 1485, épouse en 1490, Raoulette Pâris, dont: Pierre, seigneur du Bois-Orcant, marié à Jacquette du Pontrouault; Michel, receveur des fouages de Rennes et argentier d'Anne de Bretagne, anobli en 1500, marié à Marguerite Bonin; François, chevalier de l'ordre en 1564; Julien, chevalier de l'ordre en 1578 et capitaine de Rennes, eut l'honneur de recevoir Henri IV à son château de cette maison en 1598; deux conseillers au parlement en 1649, mort en 1824; un contre-amiral honoraire en 1814, mort en 1816. La branche du Bois-Orcant fondue dans d'Angennes; la branche de cette maison fondue dans Espivent.
