Nella memoria intitolata "Titoli nobiliari e stemmi dei marchesi Terzioli di Bergamo", Milano, 1931, si legge: "La nobilissima e antichissima famiglia dei marchesi Terzioli di Bergamo, le cui origini dallo storico Mario Lupo si fanno risalire a Longofredo di Eusonia, uno dei conti di Insbruc, che stabilitosi nel contado di Bergamo vi edificò castelli e fortezze, è iscritta nell'ultimo 'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano'". Longofredo lasciò a Bergamo i suoi discendenti che, da Enrico II e da Federico Barbarossa, ottennero il titolo di liberi baroni. Certo è che fino dall'anno 1016, in alcuni documenti dell'archivio della Cattedrale di Bergamo, è ricordato Teoderolfo, arcidiacono della Chiesa di Bergamo e figlio del quondam Arnoldo, del luogo di Tertio o di Terzo. Pertanto già prima del mille e prima di Enrico II, viveva a Terzo, Arnoldo, padre di Teoderolfo, e doveva essere potente se suo figlio giunse al grado di arcidiacono, ossia di amministratore
