Famiglia originaria da Castellone di Suasa (Ancona), nota fin dal sec. XVIII, e che poi si trasportò in Arcevia (allora Rocca Contrada), dove fu aggregata a quella nobiltà. Girolamo, figlio di Giacomo Filippo, nato 26 dicembre 1727 e morto 15 novembre 1810, sposò la nob. Teresa Gueroli, patrizia di Urbino, ed in tale occasione fu aggregato con tutta la discendenza ed in perpetuo alla nobiltà di Urbino, come da diploma in pergamena rilasciatogli dal gonfaloniere e priori e consiglio dei XL in data 4 giugno 1804. Da Girolamo nacque Filippo (28 settembre 1757, deced. 20 febbraio 1847), che sposò la sig. Modesta Piersanti; da questo matrimonio nacquero due figli: Francesco, primogenito, che in forza del testamento 8 febbraio 1812 della zia nob. Faustina Piersanti di Matelica, fu obbligato a fissare la sua residenza in Matelica, aggiungendo il cognome Piersanti ed inquartare lo stemma di detta nobile famiglia ( in
