Comenzado por GB di Crollalanza y seguido por su hijo Goffredo, el anuario de la nobleza italiana con el diccionario histórico blasonado de familias nobles italianas hace mención de esta ilustre familia, originaria del Piamonte. Este linaje aparece con gran esplendor entre la nobleza piamontesa, cuyos antepasados, que ya habían venido al Piamonte muchos siglos antes, han descendido, con su reputación preparada, de su camino honrado, entre las principales dignidades de la patria. Con investidura el 8 de mayo de 1777 fueron investidos con el feudo de Valonia con el título de comital en un feudo nuevo, recto y apropiado, transmisible a los descendientes masculinos y, en ausencia de hombres, a un descendiente femenino de ellos, con el cual en los descendientes de esto resumió el feudo La naturaleza del recto y solo para hombres.
