Esta antigua casa, que según varias fuentes bibliográficas es de origen nobiliario, proporcionó multitud de personajes ilustres en la carrera de las armas. Se han utilizado muchas piezas para elaborar la historia de esta familia y necesariamente hemos tenido que acotarlas y acortarlas mucho. Nos encontramos con esta nobleza en el movimiento de la baronía de Mercœur en 1302. Fue registrada en el Armorial de 1450 y mantenida en 1666. Un canónigo de Saint-Agrève du Puy (1375); canónigo-conde de Brioude (1604). Jacques, secretario del duque de Montpensier, es autor de numerosas obras publicadas entre 1610 y 1638. A este nombre se le atribuye un signo distintivo de nobleza representado por el escudo de armas que se reproduce a continuación y que también confirma a través de sus emblemas, desde el punto de vista histórico y heráldico, la seguridad de un valor notable.
