Uma das treze famílias patrícias de Trieste, extinta em 1597. Essa nobre família, como observou Giovan-Pietro Crescenzi Romani, em sua "Coroa da nobreza da Itália, ou um compêndio das histórias de famílias ilustres", impresso em Bolonha por Tebaldini, ela queria vir do Piemonte, onde aprendeu as altas posições e títulos que possuía em várias cidades. Bastante disputadas foram as notícias de sua origem e a Crollalanza em seu Anuário da nobreza italiana (ano de 1889), relata que os estudos mais modernos em torno desta casa modificaram individualmente as opiniões prevalecentes por trás da leitura de historiadores antigos da região de Friul. O historiador Nicolò Monticoli, em sua obra Annali de Udine e do povo de Friuli, expõe que antes do século XVI não havia nenhuma classe nobre real, havia apenas famílias nobres que se vangloriavam disso por sua origem feudal, outras porque já eram nobres em seus países de origem,
