Di origine longobarda, le sue memorie certe risalgono al XII secolo. Anticamente era appellata degli Isei da un grosso villaggio che sorge a capo del Sebino e che le appartenne in feudo, ma col volger dei tempi cangiò il suo nome primitivo in quello di Oldofredi. Giacomo da Iseo fu uno dei testimoni della città di Brescia che sanzionaro con solenne giuramento il 7 mag. 1167 il patto di alleanza fra le città di Milano, Bergamo, Brescia Cremona e Lodi, e più tardi firmò il 5 Dic, 1200 l'atto di concordia tra i bresciani e cremonesi. Nel 1248 le due sorelle Tiburga ed Imazza, figlie di Gerardo degl'Isei, si misero alla testa di altre 13 donne ed acquistarono ai Bresciani Montecchio, Castello posseduto dal primo e dal secondo Federico di Svevia in Valcamonica.
