Apellido de origen catalán, de donde pasó a Mallorca, Valencia, Alicante y Murcia. Una de estas ramas, concretamente la de Palma de Mallorca, enlazó con la Casa de Ascanio en Canarias, por el matrimonio que contrajo Doña Francisca de T. y Balzola, en la Parroquia de San Fernando (Cádiz), el 16 de octubre de 1918, con Don Ramón Juan Manuel Tomás de Ascanio y Montemayor, natural de La Laguna, donde nació el 6 de mayo de 1885. Doña Francisca de T., que había nacido en dicha ciudad de Cádiz, el 9 de marzo de 1885, era hija del Teniente Coronel de Infantería de Marina Don Jaime de T. y Fábregues, Caballero de la Real y Militar Orden de San Fernando y la del Mérito Naval, nacido en palma de Mallorca el 8 de enero de 1841 y de su legítima mujer, Doña María Josefina de Balzola y del Río, de la Casa de los Marqueses de Balzola. De dicho enlace, hubo cinco hijos, cuatro de los cuales nacieron en la ciudad de La Laguna, continuando la sucesión.
