Antica ed assai nobile famiglia Toscana con rami familiari in Pietrasanta e Siena ove furono scritti Tomassini Occhini o più anticamente Soldanelli. Altra famiglia. Originaria di Lucca, ed ammessa alla cittadinanza di Venezia. Un Tommaso Tommasini, frate domenicano, fu eletto nel 1410 Vescovo di Cittanuova nell'Istria, nel 1420 trasferito da Papa martino V alla sede di Pola, nel 1425 a quella di Urbino, l'anno susseguente a quella di Trau, nel 1435 traslatato alla sede di Recanati e Macerata, e finalmente nel 1440 alle chiese unite di Feltre e di Belluno. Un altro Tommaso Tommasini contemporaneo del precedente, fu creato da Papa Martino V Vescovo di Lesina nel 1428. Altro ramo. Appartenne a questa famiglia, monsignor Alessandro-Maria di Giuseppe Tommasini, il quale dal 1818 al 1826 fu metropolitano di Calabria ed Arciv. di Reggio.
