Ancienne et très noble famille de la ville de Sienne, dont les membres étaient des Neuf, sous le gouvernement des Trente-trois, qui se sont répandus au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. De nombreuses personnalités illustres appartenaient à cette famille. Parmi eux, nous nous souvenons : le bienheureux Jacopo, chartreux, compagnon de sainte Catherine ; Fra Giacomo, un conventuel, l'un des plus illustres de son Ordre ; Attilio, lecteur et avocat et auditeur de Rota à Bologne en 1575 ; Francesco, commissaire général à Sienne. Pendant la lutte des factions, trois frères se sont réfugiés à Gubbio, Jesi et Viterbo, donnant naissance à trois branches de la famille dans cette ville. Beaucoup de la branche établie à Gubbio occupaient la fonction de gonfalonier et étaient attribuées à cette noblesse depuis 1776, avec Damiano. Luca appartenait à cette famille qui s'est illustrée avec la défense de Valliano en 1554. La

Note: Le originarie figure (collari da torneo) sono diventate rose, forse per cattiva esecuzione, a partire almeno dalla seconda metà del XVI secolo. Deriverebbero da una famiglia famiglia Rossi di Gubbio probabilmente estintasi nei Tondi. Si trova anche la forma Tondo.
