Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia di Fano, oriunda da Ferrara. Riconosce per suo capostipite quel Salinguerra che fu signore di Ferrara nel secolo XI. Federico Barbarossa lo cacciò da tale città, come guelfo e da allora si sparse in molte città italiane, quali Parma, Mantova, Forlì, Napoli, Foligno, nonchè in Francia ed anche in Polonia, nel quale regno prese il cognome di Ciolek, tanto che Stanislao Augusto Poniatowski, re di Polonia si riteneva della famiglia e riconobbe come suoi parenti i T. d'Italia, decorandone parecchi dei supremi Ordini equestri di s. Stanislao e dell'Aquila Bianca. A Fano vennero da Parma o da Forlì, con un Viviano, figlio di Salinguerrra II. Nel 1203 troviamo un tale Attolino, di Viviano, ricoprire carica di massaro del Comune, che allora si dava solo ai nobili. Fin da tale epoca la famiglia dette illustri personaggi.
