Famiglia oriunda da Molare (Alessandria), venuta poi in Torino. Da alcuni genealogisti si volle riallacciare questa famiglia, il cui nome in antico pare fosse Torrieli, e se ne specificò l'attacco genealogico, ma l'asserzione è mancata di prova e di base sicura. Assursero al fastigio della nobiltà con Celestino (dec. Molare, 12 agosto 1840), di Gio. Antonio, il quale venne creato conte il 16 marzo 1826, e per il suo matrimonio con Maria Teresa, figlia dell'auditore Giuseppe Picco e di Elisabetta Audiffredi di Crestvolant, ottenne il predicato di Crestvolant cedutogli dalla suocera il 26 genn. 1824. Egli venne autorizzato ad assumere detto predicato il 31 dic. 1835. Nacque da queste nozze fra gli altri Giovanni Battista (n. Molare, 30 genn. 1797; dec. ivi, 1° ott. 1857), che fu consigliere d'appello, e che dalle sue prime nozze con Costanza Faà di Bruno, ebbe Celestino (n. Mombercelli, 15 sett. 1836; dec. 6 genn.
