Famiglia campana, di chiara ed antica virtù, riconosciuta nobile dall'imperatore Carlo VI, nell'anno 1713, con la formula dei quattro avi paterni e materni. Passata nell'Ordine di Malta, venne decorata del titolo di Belvedere, per riconoscimento ottenuto con D.M. 16 luglio 1897, e, per successione della famiglia Severino Longo e Caraffa, decorata del titolo di conte di Policastro. Aggiunse il cognome Brayda per il matrimonio di Carlo (n. 1753, dec. 18279 con la nob. Francesca Brayda. La famiglia è iscritta nel Libro d'Oro della Nob. Ital. e nell'Elenco Uff. Nob. Ital. coi titoli di nobile e predicato di Belvedere (mf.). Non possiamo, inoltre, tacere su quell'Antonino, nato in Sorrento, il 14 aprile 1792, da Giacinto, presidente della Gran Corte Criminale, e da Dorotea Guerritore, indefesso avvocato, decorato, nel febbraio 1815, della medaglia di onore del reale ordine delle Due Sicilie, creato ufficiale di carico nel ministero di grazia e giustizia,
