Appartennero alla consorteria dei Visdomini. Da monna Tosa dei Visdomini presero il nome i suoi discendenti che si dissero Della Tosa e Tosinghi. Catalano di Migliorello fu console di Firenze nel 1184 e 1203; Feo di Messer Odaldo combattè a Montaperti nel 1260; Lottieri Vescovo di Faenza, traslatato alla sede di Firenze nel 1304, si fece capo della fazione dei Bianchi, e più volte dalle torri del palazzo vescovile pugnò contro i nemici. I Della Tosa ànno dato alla patria undici priori dal 1397 al 1530, e si estinsero nella persona di Neri di Filippo morto alla guerra di Fiandra dopo la metà del XVI secolo. Una branca di questa casata fu investita del titolo di Principi del Sacro Romano Impero 25 Gennaio 1798. Originari della Toscana.
