E' una diramazione della famiglia della Tosa. Ubaldo prese la croce nella guerra santa del 1215, e si trovò alla presa di Damiata. Dette alla patria un gonfaloniere e sette priori fra il 1395 ed il 1507. Pier-Francesco fu ambasciatore in Francia nel 1500, commissario di guerra contro i Pisani nel 1503, e nel 1506 ambasciatore al Re di Spagna. Ceccotto, suo figlio, combattè strenuamente contro i Pisani, da' quali nel 1505 fu fatto prigioniero, e fu poi uno dei più valorosi difensori della libertà durante l'assedio. Pietro-Paolo, figlio del precedente, combattè in Francia contro gli Ugonotti, e meritò di essere decorato, per le stesse mani della Regina Caterina, del collare di S. Michele nel 1568. In lui, morto in battaglia nel 1569, si spense la casa de' Tosinghi.
