Appartennero alla consorteria dei Visdomini. Da monna Tosa dei Visdomini presero il nome i suoi discendenti che si dissero Della Tosa e Tosinghi. Catalano di Migliorello fu console di Firenze nel 1184 e 1203; Feo di Messer Odaldo combattè a Montaperti nel 1260; Lottieri Vescovo di Faenza, traslatato alla sede di Firenze nel 1304, si fece capo della fazione dei Bianchi, e più volte dalle torri del palazzo vescovile pugnò contro i nemici. I Della Tosa ànno dato alla patria undici priori dal 1397 al 1530, e si estinsero nella persona di Neri di Filippo morto alla guerra di Fiandra dopo la metà del XVI secolo.
