Antigua e ilustre familia italiana, de clara y ancestral virtud, que se ha extendido por todo el mundo a lo largo de los siglos. Según se ha transmitido, es originario de Tramonti ("Tramunte" en dialecto de Campania), localidad de la costa amalfitana donde se cree que nació el progenitor de este linaje. De notable extracción, la familia Tramonte se trasladó a Sicilia a finales del siglo XVI, habiendo obtenido algunas tierras de los soberanos del Reino de Nápoles, por las preciosas aportaciones dadas a la corona. Con el tiempo florecieron varias líneas colaterales, algunas de las cuales se trasladaron al Lacio y al Véneto. En Sicilia, la rama más conspicua del linaje residía en la zona de Trapani y, con el paso de los años, se integró cada vez mejor en la aristocracia local, habiendo dado a luz a personajes muy estimados.
