Famille noble établie en Bretagne depuis plusieurs siècles qui compte au nombre de ses membres les seigneurs de Pontjoy (paroisse de Plurien) et de la Crémeraye (paroisse de Saint-Potan). La Bretagne a longtemps constitué un duché plus ou moins autonome, même si ses ducs aux XIVème et XVème siècles forment un rameau de la maison royale de France qui s'éteint avec la célèbre duchesse Anne. Celle-ci épouse successivement Charles VIII en 1491 et Louis XII en 1499. De cette seconde union naît une fille, la reine Claude, dont le mariage avec François I scellera définitivement la réunion de la Bretagne à la France, dans le respect de ses franchises. Parmi les personnages les plus marquants de cette famille on signale: Jean, vivant en 1400, père de Jean, marié à Marguerite de Tréméreuc; une fille à Saint-Cyr en 1752; un capitaine garde-côtes au combat de Saint-Cast en 1758. Les seigneurs du Pré-Launay, de la Rouaudais et de la Fosse-aux-Lions, déboutés à la réformation de 1668 ressort de Rennes.
