A very ancient and noble family, originally from Sicily, over the centuries various members of this illustrious lineage spread to different regions of Italy and were welcomed there in the important offices of the city where they lived. In the memories of times gone by we read some variations of this surname, due to the usual causes of dialectal pronunciation and the way of interpreting surnames in the scripture, it is common opinion that Travaglia, Travagliante / s, Travaglin ... are all branches of a single strain. The Emperor Charles VI, with ciploma 29 July 1715, created hereditary nobles of the Giangiacomo and Giambattista Empire of Montecavino. The members of the family are heedless of vulgar things, promising themselves the due reward from their own energies, prove the documents so far known as the Historical-Blasonic Dictionary of the Commendatore GB di Crollalanza who collected the traces left by the family
