A questa storica famiglia lucchese, che i genealogisti fanno provenire dall'Alsazia, e che si trovò presente al giuramento prestato nel 1331 a Giovanni di Boemia, appartenne maestro di Casabasciana, il quale esercitò la speziera in Lucca, insieme col figlio Ciomeo, nel sec. XIV. Federico fu padre di Lorenzo, Matteo, Galvano e Silvestro, i quali costituirono nella prima metà del sec. XV una compagnia commerciale, esercitando la mercatura oltr'alpe, e specialmente a Parigi ed a Bruges. Al mecenatismo di Lorenzo, di Federico, si deve la erezione della cappella in onore di San Riccardo, in San Frediano di Lucca, cappella ornata delle lapidi terragne dei T. (1413) e di un polittico d'altare (1422), opere di Jacopo della Guercia. Il suo nipote Lorenzo, di Matteo, fu vice governatore di Taranto (1418), tesoriere e famigliare di Giovanna II, regina di Napoli. Fra gli ecclesiastici che illustrano questa famiglia, il più noto è Stefano, vescovo
