Il Carnevale asserisce che la famiglia T. oriunda delle Marche Trevigiane si stabilì in Tortona molto tempo prima di esservi ascritta al decurionato, come risulta dalle congregazioni dei consigli generali del 1565, 1571 e 1577, che la aggregarono al casato Bonvicino. Privi di elementi per confermare o meno quanto sopra aggiungiamo che i T. vissero anche a Padova, Milano, Torino e Casale Monferrato ove in via Andrea T. s'allinea il palazzo cinquecentesco Trevisio ornato di un sontuoso cortile rinascimentale: opiniamo si appartenuto al ramo comitale. Si ricordano della famiglia alcuni membri che si distinsero particolarmente: Cherubino di Gaspare nato a Tortona era nel 1581 reputato professore di filosofia all'università di Pavia; nato a Tortona era verso il 1740 Andrea Carlo, canonico della cattedrale, era profondo cultore di storia sacra e profana, dotto in ogni scienza; terminò i suoi giorni nel 1817. Carlo Gerolamo nipote del precedente nato anch'egli a Tortona
