Família oriunda da Itália, de onde passou a Portugal na pessoa de Leonardo Torriano ou Turriano, que foi fidalgo da Casa Real e engenheiro-mor do Reino. Casou em 1602 com D. Maria Manuel, a que certo autor junta os apelidos Cunha de Faria, administradora de um morgado em Oeiras. No século passado viviam em Lisboa Torrianis, seus possíveis descendentes. Fr. Manuel de Santo António e Silva diz que o apelido se corrompeu em Troiano, aparecendo geralmente sob a forma Turriano. Timbre: o castelo do escudo.
