Così denominati dal castello Truchet in Savoja, si stabilirono nella città di Pinerolo verso la fine del XII secolo. Un Michele Truchietti nel 1351 prestò giuramento di fedeltà ai signori della Balma per alcuni beni feudali nel Genevese. Pietro, Bergogno e Guglielmo giurarono fedeltà al prin. Jacopo d'Acaja; Antonio, fratello del suddetto Michele, nel 1362 fu eletto canonico de' SS. Donato e Maurizio di Pinerolo. I figli dello stesso Michele furono investiti di una parte della valle di S. Martino. La loro posterità continuò fino al principio del XVIII secolo, e produsse uomini illustri, de' quali è da notare un Giorgio che fu primo presidente del senato di Torino nel 1485. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli
