Família originária da Catalunha, muito antiga e nobre, que se espalhou para a Sardenha no século XIV e posteriormente para várias regiões da Itália. Nas lembranças de tempos passados, lemos algumas variações do sobrenome, originalmente Turell, para as causas usuais da fonética histórica, pronúncia do dialeto e o modo de interpretar a escrita, como Turella, principalmente na Sardenha, Turello, principalmente no Piemonte, Turelli etc. Atribuído à nobreza espanhola desde o século XII, com residência em Barcelona e Vinyolas, levantou os braços.
