Antica ed assai nobile famiglia toscana, con diramazioni in Firenze, Pescia e Prato, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Il ramo principale ebbe origine in Firenze, quartiere San Giovanni, gonfalone Chiave, ove la famiglia fu conosciuta anche come Baronci Turini, per deliberazione del Magistrato Supremo del 1690, con cui ad un Piero, di Simone Baronci, fu riconosciuta la discendenza dagli Turini di Firenze. Inoltre, tal famiglia, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche e nel servizio militare. Fra questi, senza nulla levar al valore degli omessi, contasi: Monsignor Baldassarre (Pescia, 1486 – Roma, 1543), Datario di Leone X e di Clemente VII, consacrato da papa Farnese vescovo, alla cui morte fu dapprima sepolto nella Chiesa di Sant'Eustachio a Roma e poi traslato
