Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en el asalto al Alcazar de Córdoba el 29 de Junio de 1236, como culminación de la campaña que había comenzado por unas algaradas fronterizas y terminaron con la campaña de D. Fernando, rey de Castilla y llamado el Santo. Las referencias de esta familia parecen precisarse con más frecuencia desde el siglo XV al XIX en especial los hechos de las tropas de la flota de D. Francisco de Luxán o Luján, que en 1567 derrotaron a los barcos de John Hawkins en San Juan de Ulúa, pero en la que desgraciadamente logró escapar Sir Francis Drake a bordo del barco "Judith". Todo ello parece coincidir con la memoria familiar de algunos de los miembros de la rama de la familia Turrillo.
