Famiglia romana di origine emiliana, discendente dai Ubertazzi, di Ferrara, passata poi in Bologna donde esulò per le lotte di parte. Giovanni Antonio, di Bartolomeo Ubertazzi, da Bologna, fu il capostipite in Roma di questa famiglia, alla quale appartennero fra gli altri: Marcantonio, cavaliere Lauretano; Monsignor Giovanni Battista, Protonotario Apostolico; Gioacchino, Conservatore di Roma; Domenico, Console Generale, ed altri. Ebbe la conferma del titolo di Conte, per antico uso, da Papa Leone XII con Breve 30 settembre 1825, a favore di Domenico. Il titolo comitale fu poi concesso da Papa Benedetto XV con Breve del 7 settembre 1920, con uso personale a Giuseppe ed Enrico, e con trasmissione primogeniale mascolina a Pio, tutti discendenti da Giuseppe, fratello di Domenico. Sono iscritti nel Libro d'Oro della Nob. Ital. e nell'Elenco Uff. Nob. Ital. 1933, col titolo di Conte (mpr.), per Giuseppe, di Paolo, Conte (pers.), per i suoi fratelli Enrico e
