Ancienne et très noble famille espagnole, de vertu claire et ancestrale, qui s'est répandue au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Espagne et d'Amérique du Sud. L'origine de ce patronyme doit être recherchée dans la région basque ; en fait, il dérive de l'union entre le mot basque "ugarte/uharte" (= île) et le nom "etxe" (= maison), avec le sens final de "maison sur l'île". La noblesse évidente de la famille Ugarteche est également confirmée par sa présence dans certaines des œuvres les plus précieuses de l'héraldique, notamment le fondamental "Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispánica - letras STUVWXYZ" de Vicente de Cadenas y Vicent (29 avril 1915 - 21 décembre 2005), "cronista rey de Armas" du Royaume d'Espagne. La légende raconte que l'ancêtre de cette famille était un chevalier du XIIIe siècle, qui se distingua notamment lors de la conquête de Cordoue, qui culmina le 29 juin 1236.
