Very ancient family, enjoyed nobility in Matera, and at present it is instinct. In 1204 there is a memory of an Angel abbot of S. Maria della Nova, son of Sire Bisancio, a castellan of Matera and lawyer of said church. Henry was vicar of the Prince of Salerno in 1269 and was decorated with the title dilectus miles familiaris et fidelis noster. Michele in 1275 was the pilot of Trani. A branch of this family in 1540 transplanted to Taranto, to whose nobility it was added, and died in the late eighteenth century. The family crest is: D'azzurro, with green elm, trimmed by a silver dove. Alias branch of Taranto. Golden, with green elm, combined with. two natural lions, faced and counter-rampant.
