Es originario de Cataluña, de donde pasó a Mallorca en los tiempos de su conquista. Bernardo U., natural de Manresa (Barcelona) fue uno de los comisionados regios para el reparto general de las tierras de aquella isla y poseyó la alquería de "Cunia", que después se llamó "Alcudia" y hoy es la ciudad mallorquina del mismo nombre. En el año 1258, Arnaldo U. juró obediencia y vasallaje al rey don Alfonso II de Aragón, como representante de la villa Santa Margarita. En 1363, figuró Francisco U. entre los diputados del reino nombrados para asistir a las Cortes aragonesas en la villa de Monzón (Huesca). En 1371 era veguer de la ciudad y reino de Mallorca Luis U., y en 1401 Juan U. Durante los siglos XIV, XV y XVI fueron muchos los de este linaje que desempeñaron el cargo de jurados por el estamento de ciudadanos.
