Noble famille de Castel'aneta, puis passée à Tarente, à la noblesse de laquelle elle a été agrégée. A l'époque du roi Charles II d'Anjou, il possédait le fief de Tafagnano. Giovanni, Razionale de la Chambre Royale, avait accordé, en 1510, le fief de Casal Laureto par la reine Giovanna. Il possédait également le Casale di Montejasi, au XVIIIe siècle, sur lequel Carlo obtint le titre de duc de Ferdinand IV; Giacomo, fils de Francesco Saverio, baron de Montejasi et d'Ippolita Marrese, était capitaine du régiment de Terra d'Otranto et Grassiere del Re; Carlo fut Intendant de la Province de Terra d'Otranto de 1832 à 1827. Reçu pour la justice dans l'Ordre SM de Malte en 1787 en la personne de Cavaliere Vincenzo, et en tant que quatrième de la famille Marrese en 1790. En 1801, il fut inscrit à la Liste des Familles de Chevaliers reçues pour justice dans l'Ordre
