Noble y antiguo linaje del valle de la Valdorba, en el reino de Navarra, cuyas armas constan por la certificacion siguiente: "Certifico y doy fé, yo Juan Dionisio de Iriart, escribano real por Su Magestad en todo este su reino de Navarra, que he visto y reconocido un escudo de armas que está afijado y puesto en la portada y frontispicio del palacio del lugar de U., del valle de la Valdorba, y hallé que contiene por blason de divisas tres bastones o barras lisas de alto a bajo; y en el remate inferior del dicho escudo una cruz, que pende de él, y tiene semejanza con la de Malta, las cuales están labradas en una piedra superior de dicha portada. Pertenecen a la familia Valanza y la Lana. Y para que de ello conste dí el presente, y lo firmé en el lugar de U. a diez y seis de mayo de mil setecientos y doce.". Hay esta firma: Juan Dionisio de Iriart, escribano.
